Virtual Business Systems Production control and Financial Forecasting for Your Company |
Allan graduated from the University of Colorado in 1971 with BS degrees in both finance and engineering. While attending University, he worked evenings at the National Center of Atmospheric Research, first as a computer operator, then as a shift supervisor. Allan has been fascinated by technology ever since he watched his first weather map created on a plotter attached to a CDC 6400 main frame system. Those were the days when core computer memory was delivered with a fork lift, FORTRAN programs were entered using 80 column punch cards and "real men" wrote their programs in machine code. Mr. London has practiced as a Certified Public Accountant and business consultant in the San Francisco Bay area for 34 years. From 1971 through 1979 he was a staff accountant and then manager with the national accounting and consulting firm, Fox & Co. where he supervised audits and ran the technical review department for the San Francisco office. He then moved on to the international CPA firm of Spicer and Oppenheim where he was a Partner. Allan’s work was focused on providing auditing, tax and accounting services for investment partnerships, hedge funds and broker dealers. Since 1991, Allan has continued to practice as a consultant specializing in providing consulting and systems support to venture investment fund managers, hedge funds, and the brokerage community. His practice includes assisting companies with financial analysis, design and installation of management information systems, implementation of cost accounting systems, budgeting and strategic planning through the development of business models. Allan is also a partner in Noland London & Associates, which provides consulting services to technology and biotech startup companies. Allan became involved with winery operations in 1995. He was retained as a consultant for a Napa Valley winery for which he is also a member of the Board of Directors. Since then he has developed many strategic plans for wineries and has written several systems that facilitate winery production, financial forecasting and accounting. His software is distributed in Australia by BDO Chartered Accountants and Advisors in Adelaide, SA. Allan has lectured and taught seminars at the University of California, Golden Gate University and has been an instructor for the California Society of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, for three years he taught a seminar on cash flow management at the Small Business Conference sponsored by the San Francisco Chronicle. Allan lives in San Rafael with his wife Kelly and 13 year old son Alexander. Commuting by ferry to San Francisco every day indulges Allan’s love of ships and the sea. He is an avid sailor with a special affinity for winter sailing on the San Francisco Bay. Returning from a 4 hour sail he is most content if the temperature was cold and the rain was hard while the wind howled through the rigging at 30 plus knots the entire time. As one might guess, during the winters, Allan frequently sails solo.
