Production Forecasting System
Introduction
The Production Forecasting System allocates estimated
vineyard production and costs for eleven years (the most recent crop year
and ten future years) to a winery’s programs and products by vineyard block, by
year. Reports are generated showing production allocations by tons crushed,
gallons, finished cases, blend percentages and blended costs for each
product. The computations provide for spillage and evaporation. The finished
case forecast by product by year can be exported to the VIRTUAL Winery System.
The user enters the following data:
- Product Sheet –
Products and wine programs and assignment of each product to a wine program.
- Yield Sheet – Vineyard
names and blocks, acreage, anticipated gallons crush per ton and annual
yields as tons per acre.
- Allocation Sheet –
Resulting estimated crush in tons by vineyard block is allocated to each
wine program.
- Blend Sheet – Crush
tons for each wine program by block is then allocated to one or more
individual products.
- Cost Sheet – Estimated
cost per acre for crop and depreciation and cost per ton for the harvest,
purchase of grapes and crush costs per ton.
The system will generate verification reports for all
data entered. In addition, when the data is processed by selecting
Update_Report_Files from the Company menu, seven pivot table reports
are generated which analyze every aspect of estimated production by tons,
gallons, and finished cases further delineated by year, vineyard, block and
product. These reports include two reports that show tons and bulk that has
not yet been allocated to products. This “Unassigned” production may be sold
off as grapes or bulk, or assigned to products at a later date. Also, eight
additional pivot tables are maintained to compute the blended costs of
production shown on the Cost Summary reports.
The system was developed using Microsoft Excel and Visual
Basic for Applications. The application is fully menu driven; but, the
default Excel worksheet menu and the worksheet tabs are also displayed to
assist those users familiar with Excel.
The Production system requires that Microsoft Excel 2000
(Version 9.0) or Excel Office XP (Version 10.0) be installed. The
system will not run on Office 97. At least 256 Mb of RAM memory is recommended.
